OpenSWMM 6 coupled 1D/2D
OpenSWMM Engine v6 (pre-release) with its own 1D/2D coupling: a local-inertial 2D surface with each manhole tied to a mesh vertex, run with its defaults; the surface is the case's grid with each square cut into two triangles.
Production software, installed from its official source and run by the suite with its defaults, except the settings each card names. Ran 3 tests; fewer than 5 with other models, so not ranked on the leaderboard. Score cards from: OpenSWMM Engine v6 1D/2D (two triangles per grid square) 6.0.0a4.dev1.
| Test | Difference, rank | Checks |
|---|---|---|
| Manhole overflowing onto a street A12-010 | #2 0.79 % off of 4 models | • Manhole outflow 0.56 % off; • Street depth 0.61 mm off; · Water balance 0.0012 % off With OpenSWMM's own coupling and defaults: the manhole passes 0.503 m³/s onto the street (0.5 exact), the street runs 0.6 mm from normal depth, and the water balances to 0.01 m³ of 900 m³. |
| Flooded yard draining into a pipe A12-011 | #3 24 % off of 4 models | • Final level 1.2 cm off; • Water discharged 4.1 % off; · Water balance 0.55 % off The yard drains 12 mm below the 5 cm gully crest, so 4 % too much leaves by the outfall. OpenSWMM's exchange is meant to close at the crest, and a still pond 1 cm below it does not drain, but here it kept draining at 0.035–0.045 m³/s for about ten minutes while both the surface and the manhole head were below the crest. The 1.5 m³ missing from the balance is the network's own continuity error (0.62 % in its report). |
| Overflow and return A12-012 | #2= 0.22 % off of 4 models | • Water discharged 0.21 % off; • Left on the surface 0.403 m3 off; · Water balance 0.016 % off 110 m³ surges onto the surface and drains back; 179.6 of the 180 m³ leaves by the outfall and 0.4 m³ stays on the slope. The balance closes to 0.03 m³. |
