OpenSWMM 6 coupled 1D/2D · cross mesh

The same OpenSWMM 6 1D/2D model on a finer-cut mesh: each grid square cut into four triangles by both diagonals (the mesh the suite's ANUGA surface uses).

Production software, installed from its official source and run by the suite with its defaults, except the settings each card names. Ran 3 tests; fewer than 5 with other models, so not ranked on the leaderboard. Score cards from: OpenSWMM Engine v6 1D/2D (four triangles per grid square) 6.0.0a4.dev1.

Manhole overflowing onto a street
A12-010
#4 10 % off
of 4 models
• Manhole outflow 0.58 % off; • Street depth 8 mm off; · Water balance 0.00084 % off

Same exchange and balance as on the two-triangle mesh, but with each square cut into four triangles the street runs 85.7 mm deep instead of 77.7 mm. The same model on the simpler two-triangle mesh is 0.6 mm off: the sheet flow depends on how the grid is triangulated.

Flooded yard draining into a pipe
A12-011
#4 27 % off
of 4 models
• Final level 1.4 cm off; • Water discharged 5.1 % off; · Water balance 0.31 % off

As on the two-triangle mesh: the yard drains 14 mm below the crest and 5 % too much leaves by the outfall; the exchange keeps running below the crest while the yard drains. The balance closes (0.31 % short, the network's own continuity error).

Overflow and return
A12-012
#2= 0.24 % off
of 4 models
• Water discharged 0.24 % off; • Left on the surface 0.403 m3 off; · Water balance 0.015 % off

As on the two-triangle mesh: 179.6 m³ out, 0.4 m³ left on the slope, balance within 0.03 m³.
